Lithuania 2023
Donation protected
Family and friends,
Our global pandemic and its restraints are in the rearview mirror. Standing pat these past few years has likely made us all eager for adventure, to move beyond the now-too-familiar comforts of home. This is certainly true for me! As such, I am reaching out to you with both a share and an ask. Ready? Here we go…
Lithuania is home to LCC International University, a Christian liberal arts school that attracts students from Eastern Europe. Each summer, LCC runs an English Language Institute (ELI). The goal of the program is to equip students with a wide range of language skills as they study in an intensive learning environment.
Students live on campus and while their days are spent learning, their evenings are filled with opportunities to connect. Given the Christian nature of the school, students will also have the opportunity to be mentored in their faith. ELI draws many Ukrainian and Russian refugees, all of whom are hoping to strengthen their English as they navigate their new life circumstances. These students are welcomed and cared for, even while they grow their language capacity.
So, why does this matter? Well, I recently accepted the role of Resident Director for this year’s program. I leave for Lithuania at the end of June, and I return in August. As a director, I will oversee the residences and supervise Resident Assistants. I will also mentor students individually and manage any discipline issues. As this is a Christian university, I will have the freedom to encourage the spiritual growth of these precious Eastern European students, many of which live in the shadows of war and conflict.
My role is strictly volunteer based. As such, I am responsible for raising the funds needed to get me there, keep me there, and get me home! This includes airfare and funds for everyday life in Lithuania, as well as funds to cover my expenses at home (care for my dear little cats and my condo, specifically). This is where my ask lies. Would you consider a donation? Any amount is a blessing. Prayer support is also welcome and very needed; these kids require care and discipleship, along with spiritual nurture.
I am so grateful for your consideration! The world awaits, and I can’t help but feel eager to give my time, energy, prayer, and support to a region in need of renewal.
