Little Fire 2023 Season

Hi! We are Little Fire Artist Collective, a Chicago-based dance project. We aim to support and serve as a much-needed incubator for freelance artists as they continue cultivating and exploring their “little fires.” Please join us as we embark on our 2023 season of dance-making. Your donation today will help bring our work to life!

Our 2023 season is our most ambitious season to date. Help us finish the year strong by supporting the creation of a brand new evening of danceworks, which will culminate in an intimate performance weekend in January 2024.

So far, this fundraiser allowed Little Fire Artist Collective to participate in two international engagements. Generous donations covered flight costs and other travel expenses. In April, a group of Little Fire artists travelled to San José, Costa Rica, for a residency in collaboration with Jose Ventura and other local dancers. We created, explored, taught classes, and performed new dances for local audiences. Ultimately, we hope the Costa Rican artists we collaborate with will travel to Chicago to experience the contemporary dance scene in the United States.

In July, a group of Little Fire Artists spent a week in Acton Vale, Canada for a residency the Margie Gillis Dance Foundation. The movement research from this residency will be presented in the January 2024 performance!

Finally, we want to continue our initiative to offer Improvisation Jams free of charge to Chicago dancers and musicians! These events are well attended at various local dance studios, and the money from this fundraiser covers rental fees. Our hope is to produce Improvisation Jams monthly!
