Little Free Library 8th Grade CSP
Donation protected
As 8th graders at Piedmont IB Middle school, we have to do a community service project. For our 8th grade community service project, we are building a little free library. As kids, reading books was very important to our education, and if you could find the right one, it could be very enjoyable as well. With a little free library, we our hoping more kids can find a book to not only read, but also to enjoy by bringing more variety to them.
We have already purchased all the minimum required supplies and have cut everything out, and are working on assembly. We are a group of 3 people, who each do various parts of this project. We are hoping that if we meet our funding goal, then we will be able to pay back what we have already put into this project, but also to register it officially on the Little Free Library website, and spice it up a bit with some technology. With our planned camera system, we would be able to keep a website updated with the books currently in the library, kind of like a catalog online.
Getting this project done means a lot to us, and this funding will allow us to serve our community the best we can. Even a small donation will help us on our journey.
Thanks again!
Here is our pricing scheme:
$150 for original materials: Wood, glass, hinges, paint, and excess hardware
$75 for electronics: solar panel, charge controller, battery, etc.
$30 for additional materials: Caulk, aluminum, extra brushes, more hardware.
FUTURE PLANS
$40 for Little Free Library registration
And more for continued maintenance and for allowing this library to continue to prosper!
At this point we are reimbursing our parents who paid out of pocket to buy everything.
If we pass our goal substantially, we will either donate it to other Little Free Library projects or possibly make another.
Thanks again!
