Little Free Library for Downtown East

My name is Samantha Morgan and I live in the area of Baton Rouge known as Downtown East. In 2019 I started a weekly social bike ride to re-introduce people to this part of town, which is really the heart of the city. Now, I want to create a Little Free Library for my neighborhood to give people in the community a way to share and interact with each other.

I'd also like to make the Little Free Library a place to provide bike lights for those in need. Because this area has a high rate of poverty, there are a lot of people who ride bikes, but can't afford proper lights. I can get lights, but distributing them often means people having to find me on the street. This would be a place where they could get lights and grab a book at the same time.

Any funds over the $300 needed to pay for the construction of the Free Little Library will go toward purchasing lights.
