"Little Island Near Cuba" - A Spy Short Film
Donation protected
Hey there!
Thanks for your interest in our new spy action short film, "LITTLE
ISLAND NEAR CUBA." Here's some info about our film, but I get it if you just want to skip to the pictures. NOTE: the frames shown are from our pre-visualization shoot on location with stand-ins for a storyboard! The actual cast for production will be different, and the real shots will be even more awesome!
----Here we go----
Close-up of a gun and a “VISIT CUBA” brochure lying on the passenger seat of a moving car. The car careens over a bridge and down a short drive to a large, old brick building. A man wearing a suit steps out of the vehicle. He walks into the building, gun at the ready.
Cue epic music cause he’s a SPY!

Still Reading? Nice.
Devon works as a handler in a clandestine organization under his boss, Bentley. Normally, he doesn’t get his hands dirty, but last week, a mission in Russia went wrong. Very, very wrong. An agent died, and now, Devon is under pressure to “fix it.” But the “fix” means sacrificing the one he loves: Kate.
Can he save her? Could she forgive him if she knew his secret? What is she hiding?
Kate is a secret agent who just returned from the disastrous mission in Russia. Her partner died from a drone explosion, and she is hell-bent to rectify the wrong. Whatever it takes. She is meeting with her handler, Devon, but something makes her hair stand on end.
Can she trust him? Can she risk admitting her feelings? And exactly how far is she willing she to go for revenge?
Can they work together to escape the trap set by their evil boss before they both get captured or killed?

Still Reading? Sweet!
Let me introduce some of our Team!

Hello! I'm Larissa Loeffler, the Writer and Director of the new short film "Little Island Near Cuba." I’m an award-winning director both for my documentary and narrative film work. I have been creating stories since I was a kid and making movies as soon as my parents got their first digital camera!
I got my B.S. in Cinema Production from Bob Jones University and have been a filmmaker for several years, working in grip & electric, camera, art department, and as an actor!
I love films that show the beauty of humanity through well-crafted characters and powerful images, but I’ve always had a love for the fun and electricity of spy films like Mission Impossible and James Bond (Daniel Craig, of course).
Now meet our amazing Producer & Director of Photography Eli McGowan!

He dropped out of law school in 2016 to pursue his lifelong dream of filmmaking and weeks later worked on his first feature. Since then, he’s traveled across North America working on narrative features, documentaries, commercials, and short films. After years doing corporate film work in Washington, D.C., he and his wife relocated to Savannah, GA where he obtained an MFA in film & television from SCAD.
Today, he manages a regional rental and production house, serves as an IATSE grip and electrician, and works as a freelance DP and producer. Eli has had a passion for spy stories since sneaking Tom Clancy paperbacks to
bed as a child.
Meet our Executive Producer and Hype man Kevin Peeples!

Kevin has been a lover of action filmmaking since he was a child. He is an Award Winning Director, Writer, and Editor. He has Directed films "Like Arrows," "Lifemark," and recently the epic true story short film "Luso.” We are so blessed to have him on our project! He's passionate about making great films and helping others grow!

Our passion is to tell beautiful stories that entertain and inspire while showing humanity and truth.
In “Little Island Near Cuba” the World is SPIES! There’s Action! Suspense! An
explosion? But even in this action film is the heart of a drama. I love stories that delve into the heartbeats that drives us all… Love and the need to be loved. The need to accept help. The honesty and vulnerability that will break barriers and offer freedom. And the Lesson they learn together is something with which everyone can identify: Trust.

Are you still here?
"So, how can I help!" You scream, "Let's get to the point!”
Ok, well, no need to shout. Sheesh.
But I'm glad you asked! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to HELP US FUND THIS FILM! Come on a journey with us: secrets and betrayal, action and romance, adventure, and a sprinkling of the impossible.
"What does that mean for me?" you ask.
OK, let's list some things we need help with. We need help covering costs like:
- Renting lighting and electrical equipment
- Renting AWESOME ANNAMORPHIC PRIME LENSES
- Providing our crew food and shelter and heat (all very necessary things)
- Wardrobe for our actors
- Makeup (also for our actors)
- Props and all those weapons for our fight scenes!
- Health and safety on set
- Expenses for our STUNTS! Yes STUNTS!
- Postproduction needs like color correction, sound mixing, editing, music, festival fees, etc.
- Coffee runs for the director (teehee, just kidding)
- Snacks and coffee for the actors and crew
- Gas money for everyone driving
- Flight costs for those super dedicated people who live super far away
There are so many little things that add up, so every penny helps! Would you donate the cost of a cup of coffee, a grocery trip, or a gas fill-up? It may not seem like much, but if 20 people give $25, that's $500! If 50 people give $25, that's over $1,200! And if 100 people could each give $30, that's $3,000! And $30 is only the cost of a tank of gas if you live in the country (LA folks, my deepest apologies).
So, you see how little numbers add up if everyone pitches in! No matter what you donate — even just $5 — YOUR NAME will be in the end credits of the movie! And you will get a screening link to see the final film!
Donate $30 or more and your name will be in the end credits, you will get a
screening link to see the final film. PLUS, we will send you some of our sweet merch! Who doesn’t want a beautiful digital poster to make your new favorite computer wallpaper? Or cool things like Stickers, a link to listen to the original score, and the first scoop on the development of the feature film!
We also have room if you are able to donate large portions! If you donate $1,000 You will be credited as a PRODUCER of our movie. We will also send you some BTS of how the film is going, some sweet merch, plus the final cut of the movie to keep.
If you give $2,000 (WOW, thank you!) — you'd be an EXECUTIVE PRODUCER.
Your name will be in the beginning credits and end credits! You would
also be welcome to join us ON SET with all the action and see the film come
together in person. And the best part...eat Snacks! Plus, you would get sweet merch and the copy of the final film!

If you are STILL READING THIS, you're the real MVP. So here's a BTS picture from our pre-planning shoot day on location, a very embarrassing image of me Standing In for our bad guy character, Bentley, and some other fun stuff!
