Help Little Mavrik Battle Cancer

My name is Justin, a good friend to Derek Turnbull and his family. 

I am reaching out in regard to their 2 year old son, Mavrik Turnbull.

Mavrik is a sweet energetic hockey loving fan, who is always cheering on his favorite team the Prince George Cougars and a huge fan of their mascot, Rowdy Cat.

Mavrik is now facing an incredibly tough battle after being admitted to the local hospital unexpectedly and diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer that requires intensive treatment.

Mavrik has since been transferred to BC Children’s where he’s beginning a long journey of treatment. Starting chemotherapy this week, he faces an estimated 18-24 months in the hospital—an unimaginable challenge for a child. His parents Vanessa and Derek are by his side every step of the way. 

Vanessa and Derek both active members of the community have to step away from their full time jobs and put their lives on hold to be there for Mavrik during this difficult time. 

I am reaching out hoping for support for this brave little fighter and his loving family. Any donation will help relieve the financial stress the family will endure during this time as only certain meals will be available to Mavrik, financial help will also go to travel expenses and costs for his sisters to be able to visit as often as possible.

Update: Jan 5th

Happy new years everyone ! Mavrik had a very busy holidays with his sisters visiting at the Ronald Mcdonald house and much excitement of decorations and great staff volunteers to be seen.

On his team he keeps everyone off the bench as He has been a ball of energy throughout his days with little to no naps he keeps every family member busy playing hockey and flying down the indoor slide. Mavrik starts his 4th round of chemo on Jan 7th we are also hoping for good results with the CT scan shortly after.

Doctors may allow Mavrik for short trip up to Prince George for few days which would be wonderful to see Mavrik and his big dog Tikka to reunite As well with more family as well.
