"On the 15th November 2018 all of our lives were turned upside down as Tamati was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Infantile Astrocytoma, which is an extremely rare type brain tumour. Shortly after his diagnosis a team of Neurosurgeons removed as much of the tumour as possible, however its entirety is unable to be removed due to being around his pituitary gland.
Needless to say Tamati has had a very rough road, however he is a little trouper and is in for the fight of his life.
The side effects which Tamati is suffering as a result of the procedure is loss of movement on his right side of his body and loss of vision.
Tamati's future is unfortunately unknown as recent tests have shown that the tumour is growing back and the surgeons informing us that additional surgery is not an option as this would result in complete loss of movement or death.
Our last chance is chemotherapy which Tamati is currently undergoing in the hope that the tumour will stop growing or at least slow it down.
All of this has a huge impact, Tamati is unable to just be a normal 12 month old as he is physically sick from the treatment, unable to eat and constantly tired. In addition this is a huge out of pocket expense for his ongoing treatment, medication and feeding equipment. "
