Little Theo's Liver Cancer Fund

Donation protected

This is Theodore, Theo for short. He loves music and warm cuddles; he has great taste in sunglasses and is always dressed to impress. He was born with more hair than should be allowed and has been kicking his strong little legs since he was in his mama’s belly. Theo is a sweet and spunky little boy with a bright future ahead of him but this June we learned that his future has a few more obstacles than expected when he was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer called hepatoblastoma.

Theo is the only son of Cara, a beloved pre-k teacher at Alphabet Academy in Hamden, and Craig, a chef and co-owner of Olmo in New Haven. Cara and Craig are dedicated members of the community. While Craig put in hundred-hour work weeks to get Olmo up and running, Cara could be found reading to an excited group of preschoolers all huddled around her to feel Theo kicking until a week before his birth.

Usually Cara and Craig are the ones trying to give back to their community, through their dedication to supporting sustainable, local farms, providing food to front line workers during the Covid crisis and of course through Cara’s boundless dedication to her students during their time at school and at home.

Now they need our help.  Cara is unable to return to work as she prepares to care for Theo full time, and Craig's business has been hurt along with restaurants everywhere.  The cost of healthcare and cancer treatment is high and difficult to manage for anyone but especially for a young family trying to build their life and business.

This is a difficult time for many of us, separated from our families and friends, with many lives and jobs disrupted, but few of us have faced a challenge like Theo is now facing before his first birthday, and his family will need the support of our community to survive emotionally and financially.

You can voice your thoughts, your prayers, and your strength to Theo's family at:
