Little Farmers Preschool & Daycare

Donation protected

My name is Allison Phillips. I’m a Northeast Iowa native. I grew up on a farm outside of Frankville, attended elementary to high school in Postville, and graduated from UNI in 2004 with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. My husband, Josh, and I – along with our four kids, Libby, Kyla, Drake, and Marley – have been residents of Decorah for the past six years.

Our community is an excellent place to raise children! Much of this is due to the high-quality education provided for our students. There is, however, a continual need for daycare and preschool education for the youngest members of our families.

We are beyond excited to announce  the coming of a new preschool and  daycare to our community, Little Farmers Preschool and Daycare! Teaching is, without a doubt, my passion and purpose on Earth.  I’ve always wanted to make a difference in the world and share my passion in a way that set me apart.

Little Farmers will be the area’s FIRST farm-based, non-profit, state-licensed preschool. We can’t wait to open our gates this fall and start teaching our curriculum – one that encourages children to learn as they play; to let kids be kids!

On a farm – two miles north of Decorah on Hwy 52 – we’ll have a coop full of chickens, four sweet bunnies, a miniature horse, flower and food gardens, and a large natural playground equipped with the fixings for fort-building, hillside slides, and more. Age-appropriate, child-driven lessons will be taught both outdoors and inside our completely renovated 3,600 sq. ft. 1967 farm out-building. We will also offer wrap around daycare from 6:30 am-5:30 pm for those families enrolled in Little Farmers preschool.

One of the first things we teach our
kids and students is that it’s okay – and important - to ask for help.

We’re taking a page out of that lesson book and doing just that. We need your help.  Would you consider making a donation to Little Farmers? All funds raised will go toward construction of both indoor and outdoor play areas and features for our furry and feathered farm friends.
