LIV Village 6 Month Volunteer Programme, South Africa

Hello! My name is Sarah and at the beginning of January 2025 I will be going to Durban, South Africa to volunteer at LIV Village, a cluster foster care village that take care of vulnerable children. I will be joining a 6 month discipleship volunteer programme called LIV4Change, with the first 3 months consisting of discipleship training, serving the village community and LIV Church, and the second 3 months as an internship in a specific department e.g. youth work, education, sports etc. The mission statement sums up what LIV is really all about: Rescue a child. Restore a life. Raise a leader. Release a star.

This is something that has been on my heart for many years, and I really feel like now is the time to go serve overseas in this way. I first heard about LIV Village back at Soul Survivor in 2016, when the founders of the village came to speak. I went away with their book in my hand and my heart changed, and really felt like it was something God had put on my heart. The last 8 years have flown by and after achieving my degree at Performers College and having moved to London to explore opportunities there, I feel that even though it may be very different, I believe the skills I have learnt and things I have achieved over the last few years especially, have led me to my new adventure.

This has all happened very quickly (all in the last 2 weeks!) hence why I have set up this page up just over a month before I will be travelling out! As this is a volunteer programme, I need to raise funds to help pay towards the programme, accommodation, flights, vaccinations, visa etc. so if this is something that you would like to support me in then I would be extremely grateful!
