Liver Transplant for Lindsey
Donation protected
112 days ago I was reborn. Many of you who have known me and have been around me most of my adult life may have seen the signs of my self-sabotage, depression, and gradually killing myself. I, myself, was in complete and utter denial. 112 days ago my husband and my children witnessed and went through the torment of watching me almost lose my life to liver failure at 39 years old. After many blood transfusions, I was told my only cure is a liver transplant. I immediately put myself in treatment for 30 days. Returning home I have had many hospital visits and several doctor’s appointments. My husband and I spent a week at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville to ultimately receive the news that a liver transplant is my only option for survival. We have many more visits ahead of us including anywhere from a month to a two-month stay in the Jacksonville area following my release from the hospital. The expenses we will endure from our lodging, travel, medication, and necessities in Jacksonville, on top of trying to keep our home and life in Cape Coral afloat keeping up with all of our monthly bills and expenses, are more than Jason and I can fathom. He has applied for FMLA to help him keep his job and insurance, however, this is not paid FMLA and he will not be compensated for the necessary time off for my pretransplant appointments and post-transplant hospital stay. He must take this time off, being my primary caregiver. He will be undergoing training with the transplant team that will instruct him on how to properly care for me after the surgery. He will then have to relay to our parents the care guidelines when they are able to help out in order for him to return to work occasionally during my recovery. With encouragement from our social worker and family members, we started this page. Any little bit helps and we are so grateful and appreciative of the contributions that may be donated.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my story and showing our family love and support.
