Donation protected
***UPDATE***
On Aug 12th Shannon was admitted to the hospital with some complications caused by the Liver disease. At this stage her condition is severely taxing her other organs. She continues to be in the hospital and was admitted into the ICU a few days ago and is awaiting transport to Edmonton where she will remain until the transplant. She has endured a lot this year and particularly this past month and unfortunately she is at the beginning of this hard journey. After the transplant is complete she will remain in Edmonton for a minimum of three months. All funds raised will be used to support her through this process and into recovery. Thank you so much to those of you that have supported it is WILDLY APPRECIATED!! Please spread wide and far the Go-Fund-Me every dollar makes a difference.
Hi, Tania Friesen here long time cousin of Shannon Hiebert. We've been on many adventures over the years, from childhood sleepovers and back alley raspberry picking to day tripping in Vancouver, eventually becoming roommates for a few years. This year Shannon is on a different type of adventure. At 27 Shannon was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cholangitis Stage 2. (Cholangitis is an infection of the bile ducts, the tubes that carry bile from the liver to the gall bladder and intestines) Primary Biliary Cholangitis has four stages ultimately ending in Cirrhosis of the liver and failure of liver functions.
Shannon has managed her condition for 16 years however at Stage 4 without a liver transplant her condition will ultimately become fatal. She was hospitalized in early January with ascites and edema as her liver struggles to function. It's become vital that she begins her journey through organ transplant surgery this challenging adventure comes with a high financial burden as she is unable to work and the transplant logistics include travelling out of province for testing and ultimately surgery and recovery.
I hope that there will be power in numbers with this fundraiser and that you'll share this near and far. Every $5 will make a difference as she undergoes this life-changing surgery. Funds raised will be used for her out-of-province travel expenses and assistance with grocery and living expenses beyond her current funding.
Help Us, Help Her--Much Love
