Liver Transplant Travel and Accommodations Costs
Donation protected
Hi All, My name is Jeff; proud father of 4 and married to my lovely wife for 24 years. I am awaiting a liver transplant to save my life.
I hope to receive a living or deceased donor soon; the plan is to have it completed in Toronto, as this is the closest place for best-in-class liver transplants (they do not do this in Ottawa).
We have the surgery covered by OHIP, and I have drug plan insurance to cover the very costly, lifelong medication plan. However, we must pay for travel accommodation, food costs etc. (long-term 6-8 weeks possible) in Toronto for myself and my caregivers (Wife, Children). Of course, this is not budgeted or planned for beyond our regular cost of living expenses (which we will need to maintain at the same time)
Any help is much appreciated! Also, if you are interested in becoming a living donor, please see: https://www.uhn.ca/Transplant/Living_Donor_Program/Pages/liver_donor_evaluation.aspx
Thanks very much,
The Hobbs Family.
