Shannon's Liver Transplant Fund
My name is Shannon Marlowe.
I am 26 years old, and I am engaged to be married to the love of my life, Kimberly Jones, in July of 2016.
Recently my best friend, Keith Rubino, had mentioned in passing one day that he was looking for a living donor for his Aunt Shannon who was dying of end stage liver disease (Not alcohol related) after side effects had occurred following a routine procedure. He said if I knew of anyone who might be interested let them know. I knew that I could be possibly be one of those people because I shared the compatible blood type with his Aunt Shannon.

I thought about it for a while. Keith and I had been best friends for a long time and I wanted to do whatever I could to help. After contemplating the idea, I told Keith one day I was interested in possibly becoming a donor.
I went with Keith back in September to Yale Transplant Center in New Haven, CT to be tested. Later after the tests, Keith and I actually met with his Aunt Shannon and her wife Dale in their beautiful home in Granby, CT.
A month after the tests, I had finally recieved word from Yale that I was medically approved and was a viable candidate for Liver Donation. After talking with the doctors about everything, discussing with my Family, my Fiance, and my Friends, I had decided to go forward with the surgery.
I am now officially set to donate my liver to reverse Shannon's End Stage Liver Disease and give her a second chance at life on December 10th, 2015.
Keith has set up this GoFundMe page to help cover the costs that will be incurred to myself and my family throughout this surgery process. I had just found out November 12th that everything was 100% a go, so now we are trying to raise money to help.
This includes my lost wages, travel costs, lodging, medication costs, paid construction work I usually do in January that I will not physically be able to do after surgery, and my family's expenses. We are deeply grateful for any contribution put forth to help us during this time.
I have always been brought up and raised by my family to do what is right. Giving a part of myself to help save someone else's life emulates that belief.
Keith and I may be best friends, but we're also family. And that makes it all the better than I can help him by helping Shannon.
