Liverpool Care Leavers Christmas Dinner
Donation protected
Our aim is to create a day to remember for care leavers in Liverpool - part of the UK Christmas Dinners for Care Leavers project.
Many of the young people are living alone and have little or no family support so Christmas can often be isolating and distressing for them. The aim is to create a day to remember, to make new, joyful memories of Christmas, which they may not have experienced before. It will be a community event and a chance to show Care Leavers that they are respected and add to their sense of belonging.
We would love if you can donate but if you would like to be involved in some other way or can offer any practical support, please get in touch! We are looking for a chef, a venue, food supplies and gifts to make this a fabulous experience.
Christmas Dinners for Care Leavers was set up in 2013 with the aim of no Care Leaver (aged 16-25) being alone on Christmas Day. The project is organised nationally by local volunteers supported by the Gold From The Stone Foundation,(www.goldfromthestone.org.uk) established by Lemn Sissay, OBE, broadcaster and author, who grew up in care.
