Nina’s Legacy Fund

Donation protected
It is with deep sadness to share the news that our beautiful Nina passed away peacefully on Sunday 24th November 2024.

To know Nina was to know what it truly means to live life to the full. She taught us to find joy in the small stuff and she was the light that we followed. By sharing her story she will have saved so many lives and because of that her legacy will be enormous.

Nina, we love you. For the lasting love and inspiration you brought into our lives, thank you. Nina, you were a beautiful mother to Ilani and you were the world to the rest of us. How lucky the world was to have you in it.

But now, darling Nina, dance on your beach at last ☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️

Thank you for all your kind donations. This will now become a Legacy Fund and Nina’s full story can still be found below x

Meet our amazing Nina. A daughter, a partner, a sister, a friend and mother to 12 year old Ilani.

At just 39 years old, Nina was diagnosed with stage 4 triple negative metastatic breast cancer - a rare type of breast cancer that typically occurs in women from ethnic backgrounds.

This devastating diagnosis came in August 2021, three years after she had faced her first breast cancer diagnosis for which she underwent gruelling rounds of surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. For a while, it seemed like it had worked but then Nina began experiencing excruciating back pain that grew progressively worse. Initially, this was dismissed as being a side effect from her treatment and she was prescribed painkillers. Finally, a routine MRI scan showed that the cancer had not only returned, but had also spread to her lymph nodes, chest wall and sternum.

For Nina, treatment no longer offers a cure but simply buys her time - time that she is determined not to waste. In the past year, she has been using her platform @frodayss to arm young women with the knowledge needed to understand a triple negative diagnosis and to check their breasts regularly.

Nina’s posts have also chartered a journey of incredible hope against the most difficult of odds. They have told the story of finding joy in the smallest things and how she is making every moment matter for her and her daughter. It's this sheer verve for life that has captured the hearts of thousands of followers who regularly reach out wanting to know how they can help.

The one thing Nina doesn’t want to do is to give up hope. But her latest scan shows that more active cancer has been detected and her options are running out. Nina is currently having to make difficult decisions around treatment that will extend her life versus how she can still have a good quality of life.

My aim in setting up this fund is that we can all unite in our wish to help Nina in a very real way. By donating, we can alleviate the mounting financial and emotional pressure she is facing. It will give her the opportunity to explore alternative avenues for treatment beyond what the NHS can offer. But, most of all, this living fund can be used by Nina to make precious memories with her loved ones in the time she has left.

Sending love and thanks to each and every one of you who has been part of her support system so far. Every word of encouragement, every message sent, is appreciated. Having you on her side and by her side means more to her than you will ever know.

Love & light always,

Ruth xx
