Planting Love Project, Mike Haas & liver donor
Donation protected
The Planting Love Project has planted more than love...it has helped plant LIFE!!!
Mike Hass, the Livermore man who received one of the anonymously gifted cyclamen plants as part of The Planting Love Project's initial launch on December 29, 2020, got more than a lovely plant to raise his spirits. Over the last two years, a serendipitous chain of events led him to find his living liver donor. Mike will have his surgery on March 10, 2022.
This Go Fund Me raises money for both Mike AND his selfless living liver donor. They will share the proceeds to help defray expenses associated with the procedure. We will have this fundraiser open until April 2022.
Here’s how the miraculous chain of events took place...
Dec 29, 2020- The Planting Love Project launches and 50 plants are anonymously left at doorsteps across the East Bay Area.
Dec 30, 2020- One of the recipients, Mike and Heidi Hass, discovers who gave them their plant and starts talking about how it raised their spirits while Mike is trying to find a living liver donor.
Jan 14, 2021-Dolores Fox Ciardelli publishes an article for The Pleasanton Weekly newspaper about The Planting Love Project’s initial launch. This story catches the eye of ABC Channel 7 news reporter Melissa Pixcar.
Jan 15, 2021- Melissa contacts me to talk about The Planting Love Project. We also talk about Mike's need to find a living liver donor.
January 27, 2021 – Reporter, Melissa Pixcar, airs the special segment she recorded for Mike, asking for volunteer donors to step forward. Potential living liver donors begin calling the Channel 7 news station.
November 2021- After the first three volunteers fail to be a match, the fourth volunteer is identified as a match.
March 10, 2022- Surgery is scheduled for living liver donation.
March 11...Mike begins a new and healthy life. Amy beings a new life too...as a hero!
This GoFundMe campaign is a celebration that kindness WINS! Please donate to support Mike and his donor Amy. Other ways you can support them are going out there and doing something kind for family, friends, or strangers.
Thank you all so very much. We are in this together!
