I will live with cancer
Donation protected
Four years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, at the age of 35. I had a mascectomy, chemo and radiotherapy and for a while, we thought I'd kicked it. Life continued perfectly, with my wonderful husband and two young daughters. I even got my dream job.
However, things started to go wrong about a year ago. My back started playing up and I was finding it more and more difficult to be fully mobile. I ended up in A&E the day after Valentine's Day, unable to walk more than a few metres. Following X-rays and scans and hurried conversations, it turned out the cancer has metastaticised into (or developed into secondary) bone and liver cancer. It's incurable. But so far, it's manageable. So I am living with cancer, and I will live, as long as I bloody can.
However, as with all these things, money is an issue, hence this page. As the symptoms worsen and the cancer spreads, I need more specialist equipment- for example, to help me with personal care and being mobile. I'm also thinking that it may be worth considering treatments that aren't available on the NHS but again, the cost is huge.
Please bear in mind that this site takes 5% of any donations so give me a shout if you have any queries. I will also be donating 10% of the rest to St Wilfrid's Hospice who have been an ongoing source of fantastic support to me and the whole family.
Whatever happens, I will live with this shit disease. My girls need me, my husband needs me, my friends and family need me and I need them and refuse to leave them anytime soon. But thank you for reading my story.
If you are interested in finding out more, my blog outlining my experiences can be found here: http://iwilllivewithcancer.blogspot.co.uk/
I also have set up a Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/iwilllivewithcancer
Take care.
