15 years ago, ironically born to the sound of the killers song; 'are we human or are we dancer?', the world was introduced to an unstoppable force, Olivia Young.
Liv started dancing at 18 months old and was competing on stage by age 3. Dancing has been Liv's passion since the very beginning and has been a place of comfort and reassurance ever since.
From a young age Liv has struggled with situational mutism, and was diagnosed as autistic at 5 years old. Unable to speak in most situations and daunted by the unfamiliar rules of everyday living, the rules of dance enabled her to embrace the comfort of performance.
Liv's desire to dance has been the driving force to over coming obstacles that professionals said would stop her from being able to pursue her dream to dance.
Liv's relentless bombardment of struggles have been met with commitment and belief and secured by pockets of immeasurable love and support from some truly amazing people.
Despite her struggles,(which include; autism, situational mutism, Tourettes syndrome, Functional neurological disorder, anxiety, hypermobility syndrome, chronic fatigue, postural orthostatic tacycardia syndrome and lack of vision in one eye) Liv has embodied hard work, determination and courage to secure a place with part scholarship at the prestigious Joffery Ballet School in New York to train in pre professional Jazz and Contemporary.
Liv has endured struggle after struggle along her journey but nothing has stopped her from following her dream to dance. It's for this reason that this 'gofundme' exists in an attempt to help with the financial struggle that we can't win alone.
All of her hard work has underpinned this opportunity but this part is out of her control.
Please help Liv to take this next step and make this stage of her journey manageable so she can continue to succeed.
Liv will head to New York in August to take on this journey by herself. Living and training in New York is going to need a big financial backing, not only to provide accommodation, travel and food, but for Liv to access the support she needs to succeed. Her talent for dance speaks for itself, please help us to support her so that she can continue to work hard and pursue her dream.
If there is one thing in life that makes sense to Liv, one thing she can communicate fluently in, its dance.
Liv is flying the flag for the neurodivergent community showing how with the right support, anything is possible.
