Liz Beyer’s Recovery

Donation protected
Hi my name is Helen. On the morning of Monday, January 8th my sister Liz went in for a routine hysterectomy. What we thought was an easy enough surgery, turned into a nightmare within minutes post-op. Liz’s hysterectomy was performed in the most least invasive way possible. The surgeon stated the procedure went “beautifully.”

What we did not know is that while Liz laid in recovery for 2 hours post-op, she was bleeding internally into her abdominal cavity from two arteries that had come unstitched and began to spasm. Liz became unresponsive and was rushed to emergency surgery where an hour long exploratory surgery was performed to find the bleed. By the grace of God the bleeding arteries were found quickly and the issue was resolved.

However, due to the length of time she bled into her abdomen, she lost 4 liters of blood. (A woman circulates 4.5 liters of blood in her body on average) She was given fluid resuscitation twice due to hypovolemic shock, and received 6 pints of blood, 4 bags of plasma, and 2 bags of platelets. She suffered critical blood loss, along with massive transfusion, which both come with their own set of risks.

Liz is stable and on her second day in the CVICU. Her vitals are good, her organs are being watched closely, and she’s sleeping ALOT.

She will have a painful, and long road to recovery. She is strong, but our God is stronger and she will make it through this. He has carried her this far and kept my sister (my heart) here with me on this earth and to him I give all the glory. We don’t know what the next few weeks have in store but we will face it together with the love and help from friends and family.

Aside from her physical recovery, she will take a huge financial hit. From an uninsured surgery to now unplanned absence from work. This is completely out of my comfort zone to ask for donations but I’m trying anything I can to make these next few weeks/months a little lighter on her. If you are lead to donate we appreciate it more than you know and if you can’t, then please pray. Any and all prayers are worth more than gold. Thank you and God Bless.
