Liz's Cancer Treatments
Donation protected
Cancer is never something you expect to happen in your 30s when you are newly married and have a young child, but that is exactly what my sister-in-law is now facing. At 34 years old and just 6 weeks after marrying my brother, Liz found a lump in her breast. She had it evaluated right away and on August 1st, found out that she has breast cancer. Fortunately, she has a very good prognosis but because it has already spread to some lymph nodes, it is considered stage II and she will still have a long treatment course ahead of her. Liz will require 20 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, and then this will be followed by an extended course of endocrine therapy (hormone blockers). In addition, they had to make the quick and difficult decision to undergo IVF treatments prior to starting chemotherapy in hopes of giving Casey a sibling someday because the chemotherapy regimen would likely have a large impact on her fertility. Speaking from experience, the cost of all of these appointments and treatments add up quickly! She has already had to miss days of work for consults with different specialists, biopsies, and imaging and it is likely she will have reduced hours following chemo infusions and after surgery.
Please help us alleviate the pressure of upcoming medical bills and lost wages so that Liz, Dan, and Casey can focus on Liz's recovery and enjoying their time spent as a family.
