Support for Liz Thompson
Donation protected
My dear friend, Liz Thompson is always helping and supporting anyone that needs anything. She has been my mentor at work and has not only taught me but many others. Liz has been a Special Education teacher at Mason Ridge Elementary in the Parkway School District for 8 years and she pours her heart into so many children's lives. Liz is an exceptional special educator who has touched and changed the lives of so many students and families over the years. Today Liz and her amazing family need our help.
About a week ago, Liz started feeling sick with a fever and vomiting. She went and got checked at Urgent Care and was diagnosed with Norovirus. After a few days the symptoms got a little worse and she started having trouble breathing and even walking. She went back to the Urgent Care on 3/10 and they said they wouldn't treat her because she couldn't walk into the facility. She was sent directly to the hospital where she was immediately admitted and diagnosed with Bilateral Pneumonia. They were initially keeping her oxygen levels controlled with just oxygen, but overnight that was not enough. After more tests they determined she has Legionaries Disease/Sepsis/ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). She then got intubated and was put on a ventilator for part of the day on 3/11 (Her Birthday). Unfortunately, the ventilator wasn't providing her all the support her body needed so they added ECMO. She is currently in a medically induced coma and receiving the best care she can get but she has an extremely long road ahead of her.
I am trying my best to provide help with financial resources for the Thompson family. That way they can continue to give her the support that she needs for her recovery and to help cover any medical bills/living expenses that continue to accumulate.
If Liz has touched your life in one way or the other, please consider donating to this very worthy cause. We thank you for your kindness and express our love and gratitude to family, friends, and any strangers out there who might come across this page.
Liz's husband, Kurt, has been by her side every minute. Which in turn is having him have to take time away from work and creating a hardship with their family financially. After always paying it forward, it has come full circle and now is our chance to give Liz a helping hand.
