LJ could use some help!
Donation protected
Hi guys, I am LJ (Laura). I am a mom and maker. I can't even put into words how hard it is for me to set this account up and allow people the opportunity to help me, even though I often donate to and help others when I am able. The thing is, my followers have been asking me almost daily to create something where they and others may be able to help.
2023/2024 have been really rough years, but the past couple months have been the most challenging and painful of my life. I transitioned to single motherhood last year and was super proud of being able to stay on my feet and maintain stability for my son. Between my making/art and my property management gig, things were going well.
In June of last year, my my mom's cancer was first identified. My mom faced it head on like a champ. Had amazing results from chemo and immunotherapy even. But it was too late, by this winter it had spread to her brain and it's been one thing after another since, including and up to an above the knee amputation in early March.
Again, we thought things were going okay but mom continued to have cognitive and physical decline; the tumors were growing and did not respond to the radiation. April 5 my mom transferred to Hospice care. I immediately drove home (750 miles) to be a caregiver for her, and to enjoy her last days, weeks whatever with her.
Mom made it 17 beautiful and mostly comfortable days, and now I'll be here until a day or two after her service this weekend. I was so blessed by our time together. But this time has come at a cost (and I'd do it all over again for her), which was nearly a month of no work or income.
I could have made it work and just pushed really hard to get caught up when I'm back home, but it turns out, I can't. Because since I have left to do this, I have lost my live-in property management contract. I wasn't given an official reason, other than they wouldn't be renewing my contract in May. The reason doesn't matter; it was legally done and paying to stay isn't an option because they will be flipping my unit to sell off, most likely.
So I have to scramble to go home next week, finish projects, pack, clean, find a whole new place to live, try to find time to work, etc, all after a month of not being able to work. And make sure I can make up the income I'll need for rent in addition to the budget I was living off of, before.
Any money would be used toward deposit/first/last month rent, establishing utilities, moving expenses, and general help where I've lost income.
I do not expect anything from anyone, but I've been asked many times if there's a gofundme where people could share and donate. I appreciate any and all help more than you know.
