Changing the World – One Girl at a Time
The Marjorie F. Powell Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in tribute to our mother, grandmother “Nana” and friend - as a way to share her love and hope with others. Through this Scholarship, the family hopes to make a difference in a young girl’s life by helping her achieve her academic goals and ambitions.
As a teacher, a reading specialist and as an administrator, Marjorie Powell played a key role in the development of one of Boston's most successful Magnet school, William Monroe Trotter, during a period when desegregation was at the height of implementation throughout the Boston School system. Marjorie Powell taught several grades and subjects throughout her career. She loved working with her students and sharing her God given gifts through her warm and generous spirit. One of the best ways to honor her would be to continue to help students in her name.
Please help us in remembering Marjorie Powell by donating to a scholarship in memory of her- to be used by students interested in pursuing a career in Education. Marjorie Powell's classroom was often used for teaching practicum experience, by her former students who pursued degrees in Education. Each year, the Marjorie F. Powell Scholarship will award $2,000 to an outstanding female student who will be chosen for a combination of their academic performance and leadership skills.
Please prayerfully consider donating to this scholarship fund as a way to honor Ms. Marjorie F. Powell’s legacy.
Help us to share the love and giving nature that Marjorie lived for, every day!
