Llandovery Pride

Hey all, we at Heart of Wales LGBTQ+ are super excited to announce that on the 25th June 2022, Llandovery - our picturesque market town in rural mid-wales - will be hosting its very first Pride. Yay!!

 

Llandovery is home to a wonderfully diverse queer community and we feel that it's especially important that they have the opportunity to appreciate, affirm and above all celebrate their culture, without travelling to the city.

It's also a fantastic chance for allies and local residents to personally engage with queer issues, on an occasion which is sure to bring lots of new faces - as well as old friends - back to our beautiful town; positively impacting the whole community.

 

This will be Heart of Wales' initial experience in organising such a festival so the Pride Committee has decided to start with baby steps but if successful, we aim to make Pride a regular event on Llandovery's calendar with a huge parade that struts harder than Cher did through the 90s.

 

Our theme is Rural Pride and our focus will be on making Llandovery Pride accessible for the whole community. Events on the day will include children's activities like Drag Story Time; a market in the town square promoting queer-owned and local businesses; outdoor stage featuring lectures on current queer issues; Film Festival; evening Cabaret.

 

I guess this is where you come in. We are hoping to raise £1000 to assist with hiring venues, booking technicians and artists, marketing and basically making our events look and feel every bit as fab as all who attend deserve.

 

If by any chance we exceed our target, we will put the money toward making sure Pride 2023 slays even harder still...
