LLEGO 2023 Boston Marathon Team

I am running the Boston Marathon!

I've been waiting to say those words since I became a marathon runner. Running the Boston Marathon has been on my bucket list for a while now, and I cannot wait to check it off. After spending years cheering on friends from the sideline, it’s finally my turn to experience this iconic route for myself! Running has become such a big part of my life over the past few years. I have trained for two marathons in the past, and along the way, I became a part of an amazing running community. Through running I have discovered how much I am capable of if I put my mind to it. I now have a community I can lean on for support and camaraderie. It truly has been the most gratifying part of my running endeavor.

Being chosen for a charity team is such an honor, and this year I was fortunate enough to receive a bib to run the marathon with LLEGO Boston. LLEGO Boston was formed in April 2017 to give Latino Officers a stronger voice within the Boston Police Department. Soon after, they realized that if they wanted to be impactful leaders in our community they needed to be fully inclusive. LLEGO Boston now has hundreds of members who represent several demographics. LLEGO has helped individuals prepare physically, academically, and mentally to successfully pass police academies around the state.

Their mission: “to unite the knowledge and experience of Latino (and other minorities) enforcement officers to promote diversity in law enforcement by furthering partnerships with the community through recruitment, education, and trust.” I am proud and excited to support such an important organization. I hope you will join me in making a difference.
