Lloyd's Liver Transplant Journey

If you are taking the time to read this, thank you. I am reaching out to ask for help for my brother-in-law, Lloyd Marshall, and his family during a challenging time. Lloyd is married to my sister Sara and they have 3 beautiful children, Mary, Gus and Juliet.
In April, Lloyd began feeling ill and rapidly his health began deteriorating. Within days their world was turned upside down when they were told he had end-stage 4 liver disease and the only chance of survival would be a liver transplant. Of course this news was devastating to say the least and it has been a rough few months filled with tests, doctor appointments and hospital stays in Springfield and St. Louis.
The GOOD news is that he has officially been placed on the transplant list and he is currently at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital. They are monitoring him for any possible health barriers and are keeping him stable until an organ becomes available. It could happen in a matter of days.
As you can imagine it has been emotionally overwhelming and financially frightening as they have abruptly gone from two incomes to one. The road ahead will be rough and met with many more medical and travel expenses to St. Louis, in addition to everyday living expenses. Sara will also be missing more time off work while she is by Lloyd’s side in St. Louis.
They are private people so it took some convincing, but they have finally allowed me to share their story publicly and ask for support. It’s never easy to ask for help, especially financially, but I would like to help ease their financial worries if possible.
They have remained very positive during this experience and have kept their sense of humor. As they were leaving Monday night to head to St. Louis, Lloyd exclaimed, “Let’s go! Daddy needs a new liver!”
Please keep my family AND the potential donor family in your thoughts and prayers. Organ donation is a special, precious gift and the experience is tremendously emotional for all involved.
