Chad's 2015 AT Thru-Hike
Donation protected
As some of you know, at the end of March I will embark on my thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. The AT is a 2,184 mile hiking trail that runs from Georgia to Maine and will take me around 5 months to hike in its entirety. This has been a dream of mine for the last 4 years and finally decided at the end of last year to do it. This trip means so much to me and I am beyond excited that it is finally a reality.
This also isn't just a trip, it's a journey. 5 months in the woods has the incredible potential to change a person. Where I will often be surrounded by fellow hikers, I will also have the chance at an abundance of solitude. Time that I will be able to bask in the beauty of God's word and creation and use as a time for introspection.
Unfortunately, living in the backcountry for 5 months isn't nearly as cheap as I would like. My costs will range anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 consisting mostly of food and gear replacements along the way. $2,000 gives me trail food and limited ability to replace gear items that fail along the way. $3,000 to $4,000 is my target and will allow some comforts along the way. Such as, meals in towns when I pass through, the occasional hotel/hostel stay, and ability to see some sights along the way. I am currently working 3 jobs and looking for any other ways to make money for this trip.
I write to ask for your thoughts and prayers for this trip but have made this page to make it easy for those of you that want to support me financially to do so. Any donation would be incredibly appreciated.
Lastly, I will be posting to blog during this entire experience and would love if you would follow my journey!
Sincerely,
Chad Calvert
