Show Your Strength For Kyler

On New Year's Eve Mason and Danyel Krakow noticed 11 year old Kyler had been bruising really easy. A few days later they noticed blood spots around Kyler's waist and ankles. It looked look like a mild rash. The Krakow's took Kyler to Urgent Care. The doctor did a blood test and sent the family home to wait for results. Two hours after being sent home a representative from Urgent Care called Danyel and instructed her to take Kyler immediately to the Emergency Room! Mason and Danyel tried to hide the panic in their faces as they rushed Kyler to the ER for more extensive tests and explain to their younger daughter that she would not be able to go.
The ER was prepped for Kyler, so when they arrived he was instantly placed into a room. The doctors did another blood draw and discovered Kyler had extremely low blood platelets. Normal platelets levels are from 150-400, Kyler was at 7. The doctors quickly decided Kyler would need more extensive treatments from UNM Children's Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. The Krakow's were rushed to the airport for Kyler's first ever plane ride. Kyler and his parents spent 3 days down in Albuquerque receiving transfusions before being released.
The Krakow's returned home worn out from the experience, but in good spirits. Kyler was excited to be out of the hospital and returning to school.
The first week home from the hospital Kyler started experiencing side effects from IVIG treatment and had to visit the Farmington ER for IV fluids. Towards the end of the week Mason and Danyel noticed blood spots again on Kyler. They tried not to panic as they took Kyler back to the local ER, where they discovered again Kyler's platelet count had dropped again to 7.
The Krakow's were transferred again down to UNM Hospital for a 4 day treatment, which was unsuccessful. Kyler has been put on prescription drugs to help his antibodies not attack the platelets and will need to see a Rheumatologist for future testing. He is currently diagnosed with Evan's Syndrome.
The Krakow's will have many more trips to the local hospital for blood draws and UNM for follow up appointments. We are joining as a community near and far to support this amazing family in this medical journey. Please give as you can, financially, in prayer, and by sharing this story to increase awareness.
Mason and Danyel want to thank everyone for the prayers and support in advance.
