The 14th annual Local & Live Music Festival is due to take place on August 24th, 25th 26th and 27th. Calverley Grounds will once again be the setting for the main stage on the 24th (6pm - 10pm) and from 12noon till 10pm on the 25th and from 12noon till 9pm on the 26th. The festival moves to the beautiful grounds of The Spa Hotel on Monday 27th August with music from 1pm to 8.30pm. There will evening Local & Live shows all weekend at The Forum, The Royal Oak Pub and Cassidy's Bar. A host of local food and drink traders will be providing all your catering needs as well as face painters and arts & crafts for children and a bouncy castle!

Local & Live is a free to attend community not for profit festival that is family friendly and carries a wonderfully relaxed and cultural atmosphere. The event showcases around 200 local original acts from solo artists to 14 piece bands. The ethos of the event is to provide a platform for local unsigned acts to showcase their own compositions with professional staging and sound in their home town.

Where Local & Live struggles each year is with regards to funding and sponsorship. The aim of the event is to cover its costs some of which include sound, staging and lighting - £15,000, event security marshals - £9,000, event insurance - £3,000, portaloo hire - £2,000 refuse bins - £1500, medical team - £1500, PRS licence - £1500, Marquee hire - £2,000, promotional materials including banners, posters and flyers and all marketing costs - £1000. To help with these costs we look for sponsorship in the form of grants, donations at the event from the public and smaller sponsorship from local businesses who can have an advertisement on the giant screen next to the main stage from just £50 up to £250 and £600 options and the top package of £1000. Members of the public can be a Local & Live 'Angel' for a £10 or £20 donation.

Please get in touch if you would like to help Local & Live survive! It is currently the largest event in the town, it attracts people from all over the world and it celebrates local music culture and brings the local community together. I believe it is a great thing for Tunbridge Wells to have in its calendar each year, but we need your help to make it happen once again.
