Help artist, Marco Albornoz, during his recovery

Hi, my name is Lori Bakkum, and I am fundraising for my ex-husband and dear friend, local artist, Arturo Marcos (Marco) Albornoz. Marco was the victim of reckless driver on Collins Avenue on Sunday, January 28th. He was taken by ambulance to Ryder Trauma Center and has a broken clavicle (collarbone) and fractured leg. He was very lucky, but has a long recovery ahead of him. The driver was traveling the wrong way Collins causing Marco to wreck on his motorcycle, to avoid being hit head on. The driver fled the scene. There were witnesses and is an open police report, but the driver got away, leaving Marco on his own for his medical and living expenses during recovery. Being a self employed artist and artisan, he needs our help. We hope to raise $10,000 to help him with medical, therapy, and living expenses during what is projected to be at least a 3-6 month recovery.

Marco has lived in Miami Beach for over 20 years and has always been generous with his time, and all he has- contributing his art to Children Cancer fundraisers, donating time and money to causes for homeless children and foster children in the community, feeding the homeless in Miami Beach, volunteering for many non-profit events, and literally giving the shirt off his back and shoes off his feet to people in need. He is a supportive friend and family member to all that know him, and even strangers.

Marco is an accomplished artist who has shown his work at Scope- Miami Beach, Aqua - Miami Beach, Art Malaga - Spain, Art Winwood, Art Market - San Francisco and Art Basel, Basel Switzerland. He currently has a new collection showing at Baires Grill in Miami Beach, at 2200 Collins Avenue. Another wonderful way to support him is by purchasing one of his pieces.
