Patrick: A Pillar of Strength and Service in Our Community
Patrick has long been a beacon of dedication and joy within the Town of Randall, WI and the Twin Lakes area. Known for his distinctive red mustache and ever-present smile, he embodies the spirit of service, both as a lieutenant on the Town of Randall, WI Volunteer Fire Department and through his selflessness in his community support efforts. Patrick is a CNC operator by trade, a Race Car Driver at Wilmot Raceway, and a local hero to all who know him. Alongside his fiancée Dorothy, who is also a volunteer Firefighter and National Guard member, Patrick is a loving father to two children and a caring foster parent for a third, embodying the values of family and community at every turn.
Patrick's Impact Through Community Outreach:
- Fire safety education at Lakewood and Randall Elementary Schools, where his engaging teaching style left lasting impressions on the children of our community.
- Participation in "Touch a Truck" events at local favorites like the Rubber Ducky Country Market, bringing joy and education to the forefront.
- Presence in local parades, where he drove fire trucks with a wave, his smile, and red mustache making each event memorable.
- Mentoring the next generation as an advisor for Randall Fire Department's Cadet Program for local High School students, guiding them toward futures in fire service.
Patricks Challenge:
In January 27th, 2024, Patrick's vibrant life was abruptly interrupted by a health crisis. Initially feeling unwell, his condition quickly deteriorated, leading to his admission to the hospital in Pleasent Prarie, WI. After being transferred to a Specialized Care Unit in Milwaukee, it was determined Patrick was battling Meningitis of unknown origin. Meningitis is an illness that involves the inflammation (swelling) of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, known as the meninges. This condition can result from infections caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites.
This diagnosis has placed him on a ventilator. Despite exhaustive testing, Patrick's medical team is stumped, with every test for known pathogens returning negative. His condition fluctuates daily, and he shows moments of responsiveness. Despite occasional moments of alertness, Patrick's physical movements and motor skills remain severely limited, painting a picture of uncertainty and concern for the timeline on his road to recovery.
Dorothy's Unwavering Support Amidst Struggle:
At the heart of this ordeal is Dorothy, who has risen to the challenge with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. Faced with the sudden responsibility of managing their household alone, she balances her role as a daycare teacher with the demands of caring for their 3 children, all while supporting Patrick through his hospitalization. The physical toll on Dorothy, having to work and commute 70 miles round trip daily to Milwaukee from their home in Wheatland, WI, to visit Patrick, is hard, though she won't admit it. The emotional and logistical complexities of navigating this crisis have been immense, yet Dorothy's dedication to her family and her unwavering hope for Patrick's recovery stands as a testament to her love and resilience.
