Hi friends, family, colleagues

Many of you have already heard that the nurses at Corewell health, formerly Beaumont health, are organizing to form a union. We believe that this is the best way that we can get what we need to provide exemplary care to the people in our community. We have asked the Teamsters to help us organize and they have agreed. After all, Teamsters are workhorses, as are nurses. It just makes sense. For too long we have sat back and allowed the corporate greed to dictate how our units are run and to continuously take from us in every aspect of our jobs while asking for more from us. We are not the only ones who feel the pain and suffering of their actions. You, as our patients and our community are directly affected by their actions. We are taught in our first weeks of school that we are advocates for our patients, their families and the community as a whole. We are also advocates for ourselves and each other. As you all remember, nurses around the world stood strong together during Covid. Now it's time for us to stand strong together for each other. In doing so, we are also standing for you once again, as you too, will reap the rewards of better staffing and better nurse to patient ratios. Our voices will be heard this time and will continue to move forward until we are successful. As there are many campuses in the old Beaumont network, I have an idea to help gain support and get the word out to even more people. The teamsters have agreed to back us for half of the funds needed. Today, I am asking for your support for the other half. We are making yard signs to place all over the communities. If you are willing to donate and would like a sign, we are happy to place one on your lawn. For all of my retired nurse friends who are looking for a way to help and support us, here is your opportunity. Maybe a nurse touched your heart or gave great care to you or a loved one and you never got to say thank you. You can thank them by supporting our efforts to become Teamsters. Maybe, you are a co-worker whos life doesn't allow you the time to help with our efforts. Well here is your chance. Our employers are going to go to great lengths and spend millions to stop us. You can help us continue our quest to become one united Teamster family. As nurses, we not only deserve this, we need it. As a community, you need it as well so that you can continue to get the kind of care that we strive to give every day when we come to work. We do believe that "the patient is the center of all we do". Helping us form a union will ensure that this remains at the forefront of how we work and practice. Onward...
