Local Rivers Documentary Series

Donation protected
Our goal is to produce a nature documentary series, on the main watersheds of northern California's coast.

Wild Waters:  The story of northern California's Watersheds

These rivers from South to North consist of:

The Eel

The Van Duzen

The Mad

The Trinity

The Klamath

The Smith.

Beginning with the Eel River Watershed (which includes the Van Duzen River), we intend to capture the current status of the entire drainage, through immersive video documentation and local knowledge.

We intend to portray the impacts of past and present human practices; logging, fishing, industrial agriculture, and how they affect the river systems.  With accurate and current scientific data, we will tell the story of the Eel River Watershed, and its relationship with; the environment and humans.

As all rivers face the uncertainty of global climate change, it is important to stress the importance of these and other local river systems, and the urgency all humanity faces, if we are left without clean, drinkable freshwater.

The Eel River/Van Duzen Watershed , has been arguably the most impacted of the six main rivers, in recent years.  It holds possibly the most economic value, pertaining specifically to industrial agriculture in Humboldt, Mendocino, Trinity and Sonoma Counties.  It is also the 3rd largest watershed in California, with tremendous ecological value.

Our belief is that Greed is solely responsible for all the negative impacts human cultures have on their surroundings.  With knowledge and genuine empathy, we can live better lives, as a part of nature, rather than its conquerors.
