The Matt Loede Cancer Fundraiser #loedestrong
Donation protected
Matt Loede is so many things to so many different people: a mentor, a friend, a son, a brother, a husband, an author, and a well-respected Cleveland sports reporter for over 25 years.
But perhaps most importantly, Matt Loede is a man of faith.
That faith was put to the test in April of 2019, when Matt was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma. This form of cancer was aggressive, affecting Matt's stomach, kidneys and pancreas. While the news was understandably bleak, Matt, with loving wife Shanna at his side, did not waiver.
After a lengthy hospital stay, four rounds of chemotherapy, and a stem cell transplant, Matt's cancer was in remission.
The results were nothing short of miraculous.
However, a recent CT scan indicates that a significant amount of cancer remains in Matt's stomach and pancreas (around 12cm). It is not the size that concerns doctors, but rather the cancer's aggressiveness.
Matt is scheduled for another round of chemotherapy the week of Jan 13th, which will hopefully reduce this cancerous mass and allow him to have CAR T-cell therapy (a form of immunotherapy that uses specially altered T cells — a part of the immune system — to fight cancer).
Although he's come a very long way since his initial diagnosis, Matt's fight is far from over.
As you can imagine, none of this comes without a price. The number of hospital stays and incredibly advanced medical procedures have also taken a financial toll on the Loede family.
We created this page to try and help ease that burden, so that Matt and his loved ones can focus on what is most important: defeating cancer and getting back to a normal life.
Any help is greatly appreciated. God Bless!
