@LOFTINLOADED & READY to clean up our local waters with SeaBins!
The V5 Seabin unit is a “trash skimmer” designed to be installed in the water of Marinas, Yacht Clubs, Ports and any water body with a calm environment and suitable services available. The unit acts as a floating garbage bin skimming the surface of the water by pumping water into the device.
Sitting at the water’s surface, using a 12v submersible pump, over 600,000 liters of water is passed through its internal catch bag filter on a daily basis. Seabins capture 3.9kg of marine litter per day, on average.
The majority of marine litter collected is microplastics and foam (polystyrene), accounting for 29% and 32% of the total captured marine litter around the world. Seabins also retain some oils and liquid pollutants in the absorbent oil pads installed in the base of each unit’s catch bag!
The price to sponsor one Seabin is $75,000.
Each Seabin unit, including operational expenditure, has a price of $75 per year to run, which is $8.56 per hour of operation over 365 days.
As outlined in their Smart City Program, the establishment of a Seabin initiative requires a commitment of 8-15 units within an urbanized region, along with the necessary funding for infrastructure development, staffing, equipment procurement, and more. Therefore, LLLC is setting a starting goal of $700,000. ($600,000 for the initial 8 Seabins, $100,000 for initial start-up costs)
With the help of local sustainability and Charleston lovers alike, @LoftinLoaded kindly (but very enthusiastically) ask for your donations! Our (Charleston) timeline for this open opportunity starts in 2025, so we've got plenty of time to come together and raise to clean up our community!
As a KickStarter to such an awesome fundraiser, Loftin Kohn, the founder of LoftinLoaded LC is organizing an "Earth Day King Street Clean Up!" Hosted on March 22, Earth Day. We plan on gathering downtown, Charleston at RECOVERY ROOM around 4pm to walk the surrounding streets (5-8pm) picking up trash and clutter along the way! We'll meet back in Marion Square to finish Earth Day with sunset grounding yoga.
(Possible other entertainment or experiences)
WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS TO HELP CREATE THIS EVENT AND POSITIVE CHANGE FOR OUR HOME!!
