Logan Square Feral Cat TNR Project

Hi! My name is Lisa Marie and I am raising funds to spay/neuter local feral cats. We have many, many feral cat colonies in Logan Square, Chicago and most of the cats are not spayed/neutered. This leads to an explosion of kittens every year and unfortunately most of these kittens live very harsh and short lives. I estimate there are at least 100 cats living in formal and informal colonies within five blocks of my house. Logan Square is much bigger than 5 blocks, so there are a LOT of cats out there. I want to TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) these cats to end the constant breeding cycle they are trapped in and improve the over-all health of the cats in the colonies.

All of the cats will be returned to their home colonies where their caretakers will continue to provide them food, water, and shelter. In return these cats will help keep the rat population in check. Most importantly, the cats will have happy, healthier lives and the number of dead cats/kittens found in the community will decrease.

One of my cats was a community kitten found in my yard at 4 weeks old on a very cold and wet fall day. Link was very sick and would have died if we hadn't found him. I don't want any other kittens to suffer the fate of his litter mates (we found a dead kitten, partially eaten by rats in the alley shortly after).

My goal is to TNR 20 cats this year. 100% of the funds will go to the purchase of 2 humane traps to catch and transport the feral cats to the vet for their surgeries/shots and pay for the vet bills (average of $65/cat). Absolutely none of this money will go into my pocket and I will be happy to provide receipts upon request. Hopefully we can repeat this process in other parts of Logan Square next year, until no more breeding cats are on the streets.
