Hello! My name is Logan Weidner and I'm a grade 11 student at Carson Graham Secondary in North Vancouver, BC. I currently play Rugby, Football and Basketball. I have been playing rugby since I was 5 years old, and growing up, rugby was my favourite part of the week! I fell in love with the game at a very young age and now have achieved one of my goals to be the second person in my family to represent my country at the National level with the Canada U18 team.
I have been selected to play for the Canadian U18 team in San Diego from December 26 - January 4. We have 3 games against USA Blue, USA White and Canada East. The trip cost is roughly $2800 CAD, covering travel, accommodations, field rental, referees, and playing kit.
During spring break, my senior rugby team will be touring to Italy. We will be travelling around to different cities including Naples, Florence, Milan, Venice and Rome. This tour costs $3750 CAD which will cover, travel, accommodations, field rental, a practice with a professional team, and sightseeing. So far we have 3 confirmed games and are going to be watching the France vs Italy Six Nations game at Stadio Olimpico in Rome. I feel this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, not only to play rugby abroad, but also to learn and experience the Italian culture.
After playing on the U18 team as a U16 player last year, I was recently invited to attend the BC 7's camp. The team will be playing at the national 7's tournament in Vancouver. I will be going down to Las Vegas in February and then to Orlando over Easter weekend. The cost of the trip is approximately $1,000, for travel, accommodation, tournament fee and kit.
Having played representative sports for the past 5 years (BC U14s as a U13), the costs add up! I live with my Mom and 2 siblings, finding the funding to achieve my goals can be tough. My mom and brother work full time and help as much as they can. I have been working as many shifts at my part time job as I can while balancing school, my high school football and basketball season and home work.
Any donation you make will be extremely appreciated and will help me greatly. It will also support me to reach my goal of playing for my country and working toward playing professional rugby.
Here's a quick highlight video of a few tries I had filmed!
