Lois' London Marathon for Haven House & Dolphin Ward

In honour of my daughter Edie, I’m taking on the London Marathon – and I’ll be honest, this is going to be my biggest challenge yet! I’m not the best runner, and I absolutely dread the cold and wet (training through winter is no joke). But every step I take is for Edie, who continues to inspire me every single day.

Edie bravely fought a 14-month battle with a DIPG brain tumor before she passed away in 2021, when she was just seven years old. Her courage, strength, and spirit during the toughest times showed me what resilience truly means. If Edie could face her challenges with such grace and determination, I know I can push through this marathon – no matter how tough it gets.

I am raising money for two incredible organisations: Haven House Children's Hospice and the Dolphin Ward at Princess Alexandra Hospital Harlow. Both provided our family with outstanding care and support during Edie’s journey. They both make a profound difference in the lives of children and families, and I want to help them continue their vital work.

I was fortunate to secure my London Marathon spot through the ballot – with 840,000 applicants and only about 17,000 places, the odds were just 2%! Inspired by my husband Craig, my brother-in-law Dan, and my close friend Dan, who have all run marathons and taken on incredible challenges, I decided it was time to take the plunge myself.

This journey won’t be easy, but with Edie’s strength fueling me, I’m determined to cross that finish line. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Haven House and the Dolphin Ward continue to support families like mine.
