Loki the Frenchie Needs an MRI

Hello friends!  About a week ago, our 2-year-old Frenchie, Loki, started showing signs of weakness in his back legs. He is having difficulty standing and slips while walking on the wood or tile floors.  An initial visit with our vet led us to try a week of anti-inflammatories and pain medicine.

After a week of medicine and confinement, Loki has not improved, in fact, has worsened slightly. Thankfully, our vet has not been able to get a pain response from Loki, so that’s a comfort. He is still interested in playing with his brother Pete and chasing squirrels. 

This week x-rays were done on Loki’s lower half. The x-rays were negative for any visible bone issues. Our vet has referred us to a neurologist in Richmond, Virginia, which is two hours away from us. The cost for a consultation is $275.00. It is likely Loki will need an MRI, which an estimate for a single image is $1975.00. If other diagnostics are needed, the cost will be higher. 

To be fully transparent, our family is living on a single income since Mom is currently in graduate school full time. This is a damaging hit for our family. Any assistance is so great fully appreciated and we know how the Frenchie community can come together and help each other when needed.
