Lola & William Playground at Vestal Elementary
In celebration of Lola & William Stiles, whose precious lives were taken in January 2020 by a sneaker wave at the Oregon coast, Vestal Elementary (their school) needs your help to fund and build an inclusive playground that will also serve as a memorial to these two very special children.
LOLA & WILLIAM'S PLAYGROUND
Lola and Williamʼs family believe an inclusive playground will be a great way to honor their children. Lola was always aware of the students that might be feeling left out... she would simply take their hand and bring them into the fun. We want all children to follow her memory and do the same for one another.
Vestal's playground will be a beautiful and intentionally designed space that invites children of all abilities to play together.
A LITTLE ABOUT VESTAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
17 different languages are spoken at Vestal
A playground encourages kids from diverse backgrounds to experience community and acceptance. Kids learn through play and it is particularly good for kids to learn in a joyful space.
73% of kids are eligible for free & reduced lunch
Sometimes kids from poverty donʼt have a space to invite and play with their peers. We want this playground to be a space for everyone to enjoy.
25% of students are disabled
Vestalʼs current playground surfaces make it impossible for the children in wheelchairs and walkers to use the playground.
A PLACE TO SIT AND REMEMBER
Since the loss of Lola and William, the community has searched for a smaller permanent commemoration to celebrate their lives and to provide space to remember. The Vestal PTA has been thrilled to be connected with a local artist who is creating a special bench that will sit next to the playground, engraved with a tribute to Lola & William's memory.
THANK YOU
From the Vestal PTA and all of the Vestal Community, thank you for any support you are able to give. And thank you for sharing this fundraiser with your community.
