Lola The Cavoodle’s Emergency Vet Bill

Hi! We’re Kelly and Lesley. Our friend Scott is the kind of good human who’d do anything for a friend in need. Today, he needs help and we want to pay his kindness forward.
On Monday morning he was walking his beautiful 6 year old cavoodle, Lola, on leash through his local suburb on the Gold Coast, when the sweet baby was attacked by an American Pitbull wandering the street. Despite the efforts of Scott and a Good Samaritan who stopped to help, Lola was critically injured. She escaped the attack, running and hiding in a nearby service station where another Good Samaritan found her, and brought her to the local Greencross Vet. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was then transferred to the specialist services emergency vet at Carrara where she was reunited with Scott and family.
Lola underwent 3 hours of surgery in an effort to save her life, including repairs to her heart, diaphragm and rib cage and removal of her gallbladder. While the surgery originally looked to have been promising, Lola succumbed to the trauma and went into cardiac arrest. She passed away in the small hours of Tuesday morning.
Scott was also bitten in the attack, but has now lost his beautiful pup and is left with the memories of watching his girl leave him in such a horrific way. He has also been left with an approximately $17k vet bill for the valiant efforts of the vets who worked to save her life.
