Lolo's final farewell
Our dear friends lost their beautiful boy on 19th July 2024, just 18 days after celebrating his 15th birthday.
Lolo was born a on 1st July 2009 and was a typical cheeky toddler right up until 13 months old. A week after having a routine vaccination he had a seizure which left him weak down one side. Drs sent him home with rescue medication.
In May 2011, he had a seizure that didn’t stop with the medication, he was rushed to the Evelina in London after the local hospital intubated him. He was given strong anti epileptic meds, but unfortunately the meds didn’t work and Lolo was rushed back to London.
Lolo lost his ability to see, eat, control his bowels and all muscle tone.
Over the years Lolo has been through multiple surgeries and been treated for sepsis 10 times.
July 2024.....Lolo was taken to the Evelina as his stoma had failed to work. They took him into theatre for major surgery but what they found was not good news. Lolo's intestine was wrapped around the stoma and partially black. The surgeon said they’d leave him open in PICU (paediatric intensive care unit) to see if it pinks up after unravelling it. Sadly it didn't, and Lolo’s nearest and dearest were faced with a heart wrenching decision.
Lolo was transferred to Demelza House for end of life palliative care and lost his fight at 2:16am on Friday 19th July 2024. His family now have the difficult task of organising his funeral (or fun-er-al as his parents are calling it). It would be wonderful to help alleviate some pressure by raising some money to give him the send off Lolo and his family deserve.
RIP darling boy, you'll never be forgotten.
