Lola needs your help

Raising funds for Lola's medical care on behalf of Emma and James.

We got Lola at 18 months old as a rescue from RSPCA Southport. Although Lola was still a baby herself, she had already been used for backyard breeding and had a minimum of 2 litters.

We got her at a low point in her adoptive mum's life, she brought sunshine to our lives and made it worth living. Since we got her she has had a loving, full life, full of adventures, particularly to her favourite places for a pet and some treats (One central and Neptune Beerhouse).

It is safe to say, Lola has had no easy run medically, her rescue contracted spay nearly killed her due to issues- although with emergency care she fought through and made a full recovery.

She then needed ACL surgery, being the little fighter that she is, she worked through like a champion, and patiently waited for her recovery. She has sprinted and enjoyed life to the fullest ever since, never skipping an opportunity for adventure or to play with her brother.

However, in March she collapsed out of the blue after her usual afternoon stroll. She was rushed to the emergency vet who kept her overnight and advised she had a build up of fluid around her heart. Lola attended trips to cardiology and oncology- which were pushed through and prioritised, thanks to the amazing vets at Noahs Ark.

She was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, a chemodectoma (heart base mass) - only 0.19% of dogs will fall victim to this.

She had a surgery to drain the fluid within her heart membrane and following this a further surgery to remove the membrane around her heart, to prevent future fluid build up of fluid and to provide her with a quality of life.

Little lola powered through after her surgery and has been an excited and happy little dog again. She was then given a prescription for palladia. However, the palladia has now caused lameness in her back legs, causing her mobility to deteriorate rapidly over the last few weeks. If she continues to use palladia she will have limited mobility and quality of life.

She is an extremely active and happy little dog who loves being out and about with her family and brother and this is quite the predicament to be in. The other option for Lola would be radiotherapy. As chemodectoma is an extremely rare form of cancer she would need to go to one of 2 locations in the UK for radiotherapy.

We have already paid over £5k above her insurance and are running out of options. Lola is the light of our lives, and with everything she endured before we rescued her, she deserves the chance at a full and happy life.
