Long Island Bombers Beep Baseball
Tax deductible
The Long Island Bombers are a beep baseball team for blind and visually impaired athletes. Each athlete must wear a blindfold while playing. The batter relies solely on his hearing, by swinging at a beeping ball. If he makes contact, he sprints towards a beeping base, trying to beat out the fielder who is chasing the beeping ball. The game is very challenging, and needless to say -- thrilling!
The Bombers travel nationwide to compete in beepball tournaments. They also host their own games and tournaments. When they are not on the field, the Bombers do a ton of community outreach. They speak at schools and camps, educating the community about vision impairment and the world of adaptive sports.
The Bombers seek charitable donations to cover their travel and equipment costs, as well as their marketing and community outreach expenses. They ultimately seek for Major League Baseball to collaborate with each of the local beepball teams around the country. The Bombers also dream of having beep baseball included as a Paralympic sport.
