Fighting Multiple Myeloma and CIDP after Covid-19
In June my brother Jason Worley and his fiancé had COVID-19. Until then he was very healthy and active. They both had severe symptoms with constant high fevers for over 2 weeks. Even after the symptoms starting improving and going away, he never felt like he was getting well. He was still feeling very fatigued and easily short of breath. After some testing he was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy from the Covid. Trying to adjust to this while continuing working, he started increasingly having a hard time walking. Last Thursday when he was taken to the ER he couldn’t walk or open and close his hands. Jason was then admitted to the neuro floor by the neurologist with Gillian-Barre Syndrome. This same virus attacked his nervous system. The hospital was unable to get the medication he needed and the 2nd treatment was started. He had a special IV line placed by a vascular surgeon in his neck and this is used to remove his plasma. They are removing his plasma/antibodies to stop the antibodies caused by the Covid from continuing to attack his body. At this point he has no idea when he will be able to return to work. He has a lot more treatments and then rehab to go thru.
This has been a long and scary road, especially not knowing what to expect next or what the outcome will be. Please keep Jason in your thoughts and prayers! He is the sole provider for his family and doesn’t have any income coming in while he’s out of work. We appreciate any donations to help go towards living expenses and medical expenses.
