3/12/24: from Dawn: What a delight to see Keith sitting up. Prayers are working and seeing progress every day. Still a long road ahead him. Thank you for all of your prayers & support! We are hoping to move him to acute rehab the middle of the week.
3/09/24: From Dawn- Keith had another rough night. They adjusted his medication regimen this morning to try to get him improving. With the complication of the ileus things have been at a standstill. The one medication they are waiting for won’t be in until Monday. So hopefully the other changes will get things going in the right direction. Thank you for the continued prayers & support!
3/08/24: Keith had the drain removed from his back today He had PT today. He was able to sit up with help for 1-2 minutes. His pain is under better control & he is staying more alert. Thank you for your support & prayers.
3/06/24: Keith was moved to the Neuro floor today. But has had a rough day. He will be getting a NG tube placed hopefully tonight. He has a ileus which is a complication from the surgery. Please pray for a restful night for him.
My cousin Dawn husband Keith was involved in a Semi Accident early morning of Monday March 4th. He was airlifted to Essentia Hospital in Duluth with shattered vertebrae, fractured ribs, fractured sternum and lacerations on his head. He went in for surgery to remove bone fragments that were putting pressure on his spinal cord, put in hardware to stabilize the lower spine, and try to repair the spinal cord lining. He went into surgery about 5:30pm and was done about 11pm. The surgeon informed Dawn that the lining that surround the spinal cord and spinal fluid had significant damaged and a graft was used to patch the tissue. Surgeon states he has motor function. It is likely he will be kept intubated and sedated throughout the night. There is still alot of unknowns and it will be long road to recovery for Keith. Also as some of you may Dawn had cancer several years ago, however in November of 23, she was told it had relapsed she is currently undergoing chemo treatments again. If you know Dawn and Keith they don’t ever ask for help, they are the ones always giving and helping others. So let’s rally together and show them the love and suppprt they both deserve right now and through the next several months to take some of the financial burden off them with Keith being out of work, Dawn taking time off work to be with him along with her traveling back n forth to the hospital, medical bills, food, bills at home and anything in between. We all know it takes 2 incomes in todays world. If you can’t donate at this time, please share this and a prayer would be greatly appreciated.
Also can send money directly to Dawn through Venmo @HalvorsonDawn
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. We also set up a caring bridge to keep everyone updated.
