Due to the unprecedented and unpredictable outbreak of COVID 19, Longford’s Ice Cream in Rye and Larchmont, NY has been forced to significantly scale back their businesses indefinitely.
As most of you know, Longford’s has been a staple establishment serving our town of Rye and the surrounding towns for 25 years. Owner, Christine Vita-Santorelli, who’s solely owned the Rye location for the past 21 years, has been one of our most philanthropic businesses in the area. She’s dedicated her time, her staff’s time, products, services and income to sponsor our local schools, sports teams, our library, and town events such as the annual Mistletoe and YMCA derby, just to name a few. Christine has never wavered when asked to support any of our various local charities as well. She’s put us all at the forefront of her business. Christine and Longford’s are household names.
Longford’s is an esteemed member of the Rye and Larchmont Chamber of Commerce. Longford’s has won the coveted “Best of Westchester” title every year for the past 12+years. All in part because of Christine, her staff and the business she’s nurtured for all of us over the years.
Christine is a treasure to Rye. Longford’s is a treasure to Rye and our neighboring towns. She’s family.
Our “new normal” these days has changed the way we all live our lives and businesses like Longford’s are undoubtedly feeling the effects. Christine has had to scale back operating hours, limited her staff by 50%, and has done everything she can to take extreme and safe measures to still serve our community as best she can during these difficult times. In a world where we can now only rely on call-in orders, curbside pick-up, and deliveries to just stay connected to the outside world as much as possible and support our local businesses, we can’t forget about our treasures like Christine and Longford’s.
These are unfortunate times for everyone, but this will pass and in time, we’ll all prevail and we’ll need to feel a sense of comfortability and normalcy again. Longford’s is just that. It’s time for all of us to give back to one of our most beloved families and businesses in our town to ensure that they are with us when this pandemic is over. We all want to see our children and their friends doing what feels normal…..enjoying a cone on Elm Place in Rye after lunch or walking by after a family dinner and grabbing a quart of our favorite flavor to take home!!
