Longmire Family Fund

Hello. My name is Seth Longmire, and I am the only child, and primary caregiver for my parents, Jim and Laura Longmire.

I am raising funds to help pay for the treatment of my mother's pancreatic and colon cancer, along with transportation and household costs.

Since 2017, my Mother, Laura, has had three different types of cancer.

A double mastectomy was performed in 2017 to remove early stage breast cancer

In January 2021, she was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic and colon cancer. Surgery removed the colon cancer, but left her with a colostomy. An agressive course of chemotherapy was started almost immediately, and was effective on the pancreatic cancer. In late 2021, she was put on maintenance chemotherapy.

The side effects oif the chemo have been difficult. Neoropathy in her hands and feet make it difficult for her to do common tasks, and cause her constant pain. Sensitivity to heat and cold, mouth sores, and extreme nausea came along with this first course of chemotherapy.

In May of 2022, a new tumor was discovered in her abdomen, attached to her ovary. It is growing quickly, and she now on agressive chemotherapy again. The same sideffects have returned.

She has also developed a hernia in her abdomen that is causing her a great deal of pain, and so far, cannot be treated.

All of this has also made it very difficult for her to engage in her favorite hobby: quilting, and impossible for her to work in her garden.

During this time, my father Jim also spent nearly two weeks in the hospital in separate visits. It was discovered one of his kidneys was failing, and he required prostate surgery.

Due to the continued pandemic, it has been very difficult for us to bring in outside caregivers or help.

I have continued to work full time, and the stress is taking its toll on me in diminished mental health and increased physical exhaustion.
