Bloody Long Walk to Darwin

Donation protected
Last November on my 64th birthday, l realised that life is ever so short and if I ever wanted to make my lifelong dream come true I had to make a move while my health was good... and so it was then that I decided to get myself strong and fit so I could make my attempt at an ultra long distance walk.

I am no spring chicken, as a matter of fact I am a great granmother so I had no time to dally... and so, here I am, three months later, a few kilos lighter and a whole lot fitter and stronger and almost ready to take on my dream.

So, on Sunday May 8th 2016 I am going to attempt to walk the entire Stuart Highway from Port Augusta in S.A to Darwin, a total of 2,800 knee-shattering kilometres! My husband of 48 years, Dennis, will be with me in our little motor home and will never be further than a two-way radio call away from me. He will be there for safety, encouragement and to pick me up when I no doubt will doubt myself.

At first I was doing this just for me, but then I realised that this was selfish and that if my walk could help anyone then I was happy to have them with me, and so after speaking with the one charity I wanted to help we are very proud to say that I will be helping to raise awareness and funds for a charity close to our hearts and one that we visited first hand last year and know the wonderful work that they do. So, we welcomed on board Life Project Cambodia!

While on the road I will be raising funds and awareness for this very worthwhile cause. A charity that our nephew founded and one that we have both personally visited and witnessed the wonderful work they do in Siem Reap Cambodia.

If you would like to sponsor me on my dream walk or make a direct donation, the funds will go directly to Life Project Cambodia - helping with their tireless work in some of the poorest areas of Siem Reap. Life Project Cambodia is a registered Australian charity which is designed to empower Cambodian children and youth to create their own solutions to poverty. They provide education scholarships, family assistance and community outreach so they can build a stronger, brighter future for themselves and their community.
